May the Best Ideas Win!
I really love people who are vulnerable and put their work out there. Artists. Musicians. Writers. Researchers. Engineers. Manufacturers. People who share their work online, just to share, just because they want to add to the human collective of information available in media.
Documenting and sharing information is a concept they all have in common. It is an urge to share. Why? As a scaffold for others to build on top of it. Proof you existed. Leaving it better than you found it.
The internet allows us to do it instantly, but attention keeps us from ever viewing a thing in its entirety and full scope - often where the real truth lies.
Like we're all leaving little breadcrumbs of who we were while we were alive and at the same time shouting that "We are here."
I am a big fan of the internet.
Since an early age.
My first time logging on was before it really existed. A program called Prodigy.
I was six years old.
I used the big floppy discs to load games through the command line and followed the instructions.
I thought the computer was magic.
And one time, my family home was poisoned with carbon monoxide and I crawled to the computer to log on. I am not joking. It was um, not clear to me what was happening exactly.
Brain fog.
I think I was in Middle School when that happened.
I could have died, but I needed to do something, so that was not happening.
Sometimes a purpose can take you far, even when you're literally dying.
I wanted to share that, it is okay to be online, and to share for anyone that needs to hear it.
No one gets to tell you how to feel, or think, or write.
And you'll find others who share your, let's just say, zest for new technology.
Don't believe everything you see online, but also, don't believe everything you see or experience in the real world either.
Learn everything you can while you're here. Share it freely with others.
That is a philosophy that encourages progress.
I wish I could express it better. It is a good mission. And it ladders up to everyone else's missions.
